Gloria Enid Sweet
July 4th, 1928 - May 15th, 2024
Gloria Johnson Sweet, aged 95, of Boise, Idaho sadly left us on May 15, 2024, following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William F. Sweet, on the same date, 21 years earlier. She is survived by two daughters, Susan and Rose, and two sons, James and John, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Born on July 4, 1928 as a youngster Gloria thought the picnic and parade were for her. Raised in Vernal, Utah in a family of ranchers, she became a part time cowgirl, some of her happiest memories. She graduated Westminster College in Salt Lake City with a BA degree. On a blind date, she met Bill, and soon after the wedding they started a family. They lived in California for 18 years, moving back to Vernal for a short time, before moving to the Meridian/Boise area. Gloria enjoyed baking home-made bread for her family, before electric bread makers were common. Claiming a brown thumb, she disliked gardening. Gloria was also an Eastern Star Grand Matron. She fed quail and watched animals that came to her yard. Gloria embroidered and knitted for years, making sure all of her children and grandchildren had knitted slippers, shawls and sweaters for winter.
Gloria and Bill traveled in their RV across the U.S. and Canada for years. When greeted and asked how she was doing, Gloria laughed, "I'm spoiled, and I like it that way." She amused everyone with her sassy attitude toward life, and family stories of herding cattle to the summer range from Utah to Colorado with her father. Gloria will be missed by many.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
