Gordon Lynn Robinson
February 7th, 1950 - May 21st, 2021
Gordon Lynn Robinson passed away May 21, 2021, at home in Lacey, Washington. He was born February 7, 1950, to Lynn “Tex” and Evelyn Robinson in Seattle, Washington. Gordon grew up on Vashon Island, Washington and lived in various places in Thurston County starting in the early 1970s. Gordon graduated from Vashon High School with the Class of 1968, attended Western Washington State University, and graduated from The Evergreen State College in 1984 with a B.S. in Public Administration. He married Connie Jean Robinson on June 10, 1972. She survived him but later passed away on July 11, 2023. Professionally, he worked more than 30 years for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and the Department of Retirement Services. Gordon is remembered for his deep kindness. Small children would giggle when they saw him from afar in public, fittingly mistaking him for Santa Claus. He was an Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he attended from 1985 until 2021. Over the decades, many new members referred to Gordon and Connie as the first friends they made in the congregation. He was a founder of the Olympic Model Railroad Society at the Thurston County Fairgrounds, and took great joy in demonstrating their train layout to the public. He was a leader in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for more than 15 years, going on to train and mentor other packs and troops in the region after his son graduated high school. After retirement, he volunteered for the Olympia Senior Center as a driver, and in the offices of SideWalk. He is survived by son, Jeffrey Robinson, his wife, Michelle Williams Robinson, and their daughter, Clara Robinson; daughter, Amy Robinson, and her husband Alexander Broner; sister, Nancy Stewart; and brother-in-law, Robert Johnston (husband of Renee Johnston). He was predeceased by his parents; brother-in-law, Donald Johnston, and his wife, Donna Johnston. Services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1925 Boulevard Rd. SE, Olympia, WA 98501. A potluck lunch will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
