Gordon Charles Wight July 28th 1965 - March 27th 2014 Gordon Wight sadly passed away March 27th 2014 after a long & courageous battle. He was born in St. Andrews, Scotland, UK to the late Ethel Wight & the late Robert Wight. Gordon was preceded in death by father in Law Raymond Henshaw, whom he adored & respected greatly. He is survived by his wife, Claire Wight (Nee Henshaw) to whom he was married for 23 yrs. They have two sons, Scott Wight, age 20 yrs & Grant Wight age 17 yrs. Gordon is also survived by his younger brother, Colin Wight, sister in law Nicola Wight, Nephews, Lee, Michael & Craig Wight of Glenrothes, Scotland, UK. Also survived by Mother in law Doris Henshaw and Brother in Law Paul Henshaw, from Hailsham, England, UK. Along with Many other friends & family from around the world. Gordon was born & raised in Markinch, Scotland until the age of 16yrs, when he then attended 'Sea School' & gained entry to the British Merchant Navy where he served & traveled throughout the world visiting many countries. Upon leaving the Merchant Navy he settled in the South of England, where he met his wife, Claire. They were married in 1991& had two sons, Scott & Grant. Gordon had then secured a job with the 'Royal Mail' postal service in the UK, where he worked for the next 16 years, he was a very valuable part of the team & made many lifelong friends. Gordon left the 'Royal Mail' in 2006, when he & his family came to live in Viera, Florida. They invested in a landscaping business, 'LBS Lawn Service' & settled in the area, where their children attended, elementary, middle, high school & college. The most important thing in Gordons life was his family, he had good morals, high standards, & was very hard working. He also had an unconditional love for his pet dog 'Abby' they loved, played & adored each other, she misses him so much. Gordon was a lifelong football (soccer) fan & supported 'Leeds United' throughout his life, collecting memorabilia, attending multiple games, meeting the team players & having tattoos in support of 'his' team. Gordon had coached many boys football (soccer) teams of all ages with 'Space coast United' club in Viera, he was thought of highly by the boys & had coached for many years, football (soccer) was his passion. He was best known for multiple things, including his strong Scottish accent, that many had a problem understanding! His sense of humor, constant smile & lightheartedness. Gordon was a dedicated husband, father, brother, son in law, brother in law & friend to many, many people. His life will be cherished always & he will forever be loved & missed by so many. May You Rest in Peace. Funeral Service Sunday March 30th at 3.00pm at Faith Viera Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Drive, Rockledge Donations if desired, to Faith Viera Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Drive, Rockledge (Note:- memorial, Gordon Wight)
