" Belchertown, MA – Grace M. (Lemire-Landers) Cartier, 71, of Chauncey Walker Street, died Sunday at Bay State Medical Center after a year long illness followed with complications. Born in Springfield, May 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Archie and Evelyn Lemire. She was a resident of Springfield, MA, most of her life, before her move to Belchertown 14 years ago. Grace retired from Chemi-Graphic in Ludlow, as an Inspector in 1996 after 32 years employment. As a young woman, she enjoyed roller-skating with her late husband, Robert, and her two children, Ross and Judy. An ardent master of crochet, she created numerous beautiful piqued doilies, Afghans, tablecloths and bedspreads for those she loved. Grace was an avid reader and movie viewer. She collected Christmas nutcrackers, ornaments and prided herself with her Christmas village display. She enjoyed travels with her husband, Dick, who affectionately called her, “Gracie-Marie”. Together, they traveled to Hawaii, the Grand Cayman Islands and Florida where she was the family champion in beach bocce-ball. She especially enjoyed their many trips to the theater in New York City, and attended many productions at the Majestic Theater, in West Springfield, MA to watch her daughter’s fiancé, David Healey, of Ludlow, MA perform. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her husband of 13 years, Richard M. (Dick) Cartier, a son, Ross D. Landers and his wife, Judith of Marblehead, MA, a daughter, Judith Grace Landers, of Ludlow, MA, her fiancé, David Healey, of Ludlow, MA and a grandson, William R. Scott, of West Palm Beach, FL. She also leaves two sisters, Audrey Rose and her husband, George, of Cottage Grove, OR, Winnie Creamer and her husband, Jesse of Bedford, TX, a brother, Noel (Pinne) Lemire, of Springfield, MA, several nieces and nephews, many loving friends and Taz. She is predeceased by her late husband, Robert Landers of Springfield, MA. All funeral service will be private. There will be no calling hours. Beers & Story Funeral Homes, Belchertown, MA is entrusted with arrangements."
