Grace DeFabio
June 15th, 1923 - October 21st, 2005
Mrs. Grace Lingenfelter Semione DeFabio, age 82, died peacefully at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown on Friday morning, October 21, 2005. Her death followed a long illness. She was born June 15, 1923 in Vail Mills, NY, the daughter of John and Blanche Richards Lingenfelter. A graduate of Broadalbin Central School, Grace also graduated from the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a dental assistant by the late Dr. Santoro in Gloversville. She later became Director of the Willing Helpers Home in Johnstown for 13 years, retiring in 1983. She then worked as a part-time R.N. at the former Johnstown Hospital and also performed private duty nursing. Mrs. DeFabio lived in Gloversville most of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. When she lived in Johnstown she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She recently lived for four years at the Getman Memorial Home in Gloversville where she was surrounded by wonderful and caring staff. She is survived by three children, Greg M. Semione and his wife Debbie of Gloversville, Mary Lane and her husband Jim of Johnstown and Richard Semione and his wife Rose of Gloversville; a brother, Minard ?Cal? Lingenfelter of Broadalbin; a sister, Marion Jeffords of Broadalbin; three grandchildren, Christina Sitts and her husband Michael, Patrick Semione and Lauren Semione; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace was preceded in death by two husbands, Pat Semione in 1970 and Sam DeFabio in 1983, as well as her siblings, Roger Lingenfelter, Arthur Lingenfelter, Harold Lingenfelter and Mildred Kelly. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will be held at 9:15 am Monday, followed at 10:00 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, with the Rev. Paul Butler officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Getman Memorial Home, 15 East State St., Gloversville, NY 12078, or to the charity of your choice.
