Grace M. Gutierrez

Grace M. Gutierrez, 75, a resident of Espanola went to be with our Lord on December 10, 2020. Grace was born on August 02,1945 in Youngsville New Mexico to Jose Arsenio and Zenobia Martinez. She was Baptized Maria Gregorita Arsenia Martinez. She was the third child of eight children. She moved to Espanola with her family in 1950. Grace was a devout Catholic. She loved her home parish of Sacred Heart, where she was a Sacred Heart Society member, CCD teacher, and helped to set-up Eucharistic Adoration. She was actively involved in the maintenance and operation of the Adoration Chapel. She was also a Carmelita and CCD teacher at Santa Cruz de la Canada. Grace was a volunteer in organizations and ministries. We are so proud of her accomplishment of being the first female machinist to complete the apprenticeship at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She also worked several years at the Espanola Wal-Mart and El Santuario de Chimayo. Grace is preceded in death by her parents Jose Arsenio and Zenobia Martinez. Siblings: infant brother Adolfo Martinez and Senovio Martinez, Sons: Michael Gutierrez and Eugene Gutierrez. Nephew: William Phillips, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Grace is survived by her daughter Katharine Gutierrez, daughter-n-law Isabel Rodriguez (Larry). Five grandchildren: Monte Gutierrez, Jericka Gutierrez, Gabrielle Gutierrez, Emiliano Arreola and Micaela Arreola. Siblings: David Martinez (Danette), Connie Phillips (Bill), Norman Martinez, Estella Trujillo (Alex), Jose D. Martinez (Maryann). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Grace will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Services are on Monday December 21, 2020 beginning with a Rosary at 12:00 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
