November 17th, 1922 - December 9th, 2004
Perry, Grace Elizabeth Hall., 82, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Shore Acres Rehab & Nursing Center. Born on Billy?s Island in the Okefenokee Swamp, Georgia, she came here in 1946 from Fargo, Georgia. She was co-owner of Hall Goodwill Grocery with her father in St. Petersburg. She was a graduate of Homerville High School a replica of the White House which has since burned down in Homerville, GA and Perry?s Business College in Brunswick, GA. During WWII she worked as a timekeeper at the Brunswick Ship Yard where they quickly made ?Liberty Ships? at the rate of 1 per month. She always wished she could have been a ?Rosie?, but once in the time department, always in the time department. She met sailors from all over the world coming in to take procession of their new ships, even Russian sailors. She did volunteer work, including the American Heart Association where she was a captain for 25 years and was of the Baptist faith. Her hobbies included taking care of lots of kids, cooking and gardening her specialty being orchids of all kinds. She is survived by two sons, John M. Perry of Seminole and Thomas H. Perry of St. Petersburg, daughter, Judy F. Perry of St. Petersburg and granddaughter, Leeza Perry of St. Petersburg.
