Grace Y. Higgins
August 14th, 1953 - May 21st, 2023
Grace Y. Higgins, 69, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on May 21, 2023 after losing her battle with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. She was born in Medan, Indonesia, daughter of the late William and Emelie Nigg. She spent her early childhood in Indonesia and The Netherlands, before immigrating to Watertown, Massachusetts. Grace was passionate and always made time to root for her favorite Boston Sports teams, especially the Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, and the New England Patriots. Because of her love for Tom Brady, she also became a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in recent years. Grace truly loved and embraced Florida, frequenting the beautiful beaches, finding ways to protect the manatees, and regularly making donations to Goodwill to help support her community. Above all, Grace loved her family, and never missed sending a birthday or holiday card to her family members. Loving mother of Lindsay Higgins and her husband Shaun Garvey of Woburn, MA, Vanessa Higgins of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Patrice Higgins of Woburn, MA. Additionally, Grace is survived by sister Judi Bowes, nieces Jessica Morin and Kristen Stella and their respective Husbands, Robert Morin and Daniel Stella and their adored children, Leo Morin, Elissa Morin, and Lexi Stella. The family would also like to recognize all of the incredible caretakers who have spent the last couple of months treating Grace with the utmost care and making her last days as comfortable as possible. A private service will be held on Friday, June, 9, 2023 at 3:00 PM, at David C. Gross Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, Florida 33707. In lieu of flowers, friends and extended family are invited to send contributions in her memory to the Hospice Foundation of America (www.hospicefoundation.org).
