COLLIER, Gracie, 81, of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William “Tom” Collier, and her parents Ivan and Minnie Belle McDonough. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Melodi), Victor (Jan) and Keith (Carla); brother, Gary (Rhonda) McDonough, sisters, Velma Melton and Pat Quinn; three grandchildren, Jason Collier, Marissa Collier and Hope Collier; two great-grandchildren, Bryce Cherry and Amelia Grace Collier; and several nieces and nephews. Gracie was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and attended high school in Nashville, TN at Trevecca Nazarene College. It was there that she met the love of her life Tom Collier. The couple moved to Ft. Oglethorpe, GA in 1953 and joined The First Church of the Nazarene of Chattanooga. While living in Ft. Oglethorpe Gracie worked as a lab technician at Hutcheson Memorial Hospital. In 1963, the Collier family of five moved to Tampa, Florida. Tom and Gracie were active members of the First Church of the Nazarene in Tampa, Florida. They eventually moved back to Chattanooga to be close to their family and became members of the Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene. She was loved by all and touched so many lives. Gracie loved to take care of her family and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted caregiver and will be greatly missed. She was well cared for at Brookdale Northdale assisted living. Much thanks to LifePath Hospice and the caregivers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15th at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. A service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gracie’s memory can be made to Noah’s Ark Children’s Learning Center 3220 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30736, 706.866.9838. [email protected].
