Gregory Johnson Hale

Gregory Johnson Hale was born on May 8, 1969, in Lynchburg, VA to Parents: Max Hale, and Linda Thompson Hale and died June 21, 2022, in Hilton Head Island, SC. Greg left us unexpectedly, moving on to his next life, leaving behind devastated family and friends, especially his wife Lisa. Greg was deeply loved by so many and was frequently referred to simply as “such a good person”. Greg served as Project Manager with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia since 2002. Graduated from Radford University with a degree in Journalism and loved his ability to work with the close, bright and dedicated colleagues he came to see as part of his extended family. In no particular order, Greg loved tennis, cooking, cold beer, traveling to the Virgin Islands, loud classic rock music, spicy food, the Cowboys, Kentucky basketball, Parrot Head Club, his MIL’s banana pudding, and most of all, his friends and family. Sachin’s kids called him “Uncle Greg” and looked forward to his regular visits when he would come to DC for work. Gregory is survived by his wife Lisa Hale; son Max Hale; daughter Victoria Hale; stepdaughter Holly Morrell, stepson Cody Morrell and fiancé Samantha Gettinger; and a beautiful granddaughter Isla Renee Morrell, and deeply beloved in-laws Kathy and Mike Benson. He left behind his beloved Uncle and Aunt Kenneth and Diana Thompson of Bethesda, MD, several cousins, and their families, and a very special long-time friend, Sachin Shah of Silver Springs, MD. Now he’s gone. Our grief knows no words. We will miss him and our conversations which went all over the place from work to home and family to football to beer to our shared memories. We do and will continue, to miss him immensely. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 9th, 1 pm-4 pm at State Street Brewery, Bristol VA where friends and family will share laughter, stories, music, tears, mutual support, food, drinks, and commonly shared love for a deeply loved man.
