Gregory Jewell
December 7th, 2018
Gregory Jewell Gregory Clifford Jewell died on December 7, 2018 from a spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. He got irritated if the exact cause of an individual's death wasn’t front and center in an obituary. He reasoned that one's death certainly deserved as much attention as any other part of their life. The good news for Greg was that up to the exact moment of his death, he was the healthiest and happiest man alive. The day before he died, he had been dancing and sweating and laughing in his regular Zumba class, and as he was wont to say, "having a real big time." Greg began life in Idaho. He then meandered through most of the western states pursuing his family life and career in electrical engineering. Everything about our planet and the limitless universe beyond held him in its thrall. When outdoors and worshiping in his "green cathedral", he often exclaimed, "What a planet, what a planet!" Just days before his stroke, he was excitedly gearing up to become a rockhound, yet another reason to be in nature. Greg was a natural athlete, and at every stage in his life he found fun, freedom, and fitness in sport. His love of food, especially his sweet tooth, was legendary. What really astonished folk was his ability to eat almost non-stop and still stay trim and handsome. Greg baked the most heavenly carrot cake, and has, unfortunately, taken his culinary secrets with him. His other lifelong passion was, of course, music. The Beatles hooked him at an early age, and more recently Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars inspired his Zumba moves. Greg is survived by his four adult daughters, his two brothers and one sister, five grandchildren, and his wife, Darlene who will love him forever. If you could ask Greg what he is most proud of accomplishing in his life, he would most likely answer, "It took me a long time, but I finally learned to trust my soul as much as I have always trusted my intelligence." His family asks that all donations in his memory be made to either the ACLU or to Planned Parenthood. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
