Gregory "Greg" S. Kerr
April 17th, 2022
Gregory Scott Kerr was born September 16, 1961 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama to Leonard William Kerr and Helen Stewart Kerr. Greg grew up in Charlotte, NC and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1979 and from UNCC in 1983 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and lettered in track. Following his graduation, Greg worked as a computer programmer at Computrol, Inc. Greg enjoyed studying the Bible, listening to BBN (Bible Broadcasting Network) on the radio, writing reflections of his life, fishing, telling jokes, and spending time with family and friends. Greg passed from earth to heaven peacefully in his sleep on Easter Sunday morning, April 17, 2022. Greg loved Jesus and shared his faith with everyone he met. His sweet gentle spirit, funny sense of humor, stories, and love for people and Jesus lit up our world. A celebration of life will be held at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home at 1111 East Blvd Charlotte on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 2 pm with Greg’s dear friend Pastor Gary Hixson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 prior to the service. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Cemetery following the service. Greg is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Susan Collins Kerr and his beloved parents, Leonard and Helen Kerr. Greg is survived by his brothers Jim Kerr, Skip Holland and wife Barbara, Steve Kerr and wife Doris, and his sisters, Mary Thia Powers and husband John Amen, and Julie Coogan and husband Tom, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving, tender care and compassion given to Greg by the nurses and staff at Bethamy Retirement Center and the joy and kindness extended to Greg for many years from local friends and especially through the BBN broadcast and staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN) at P.O. Box 7300 Charlotte, NC 28241-7300. Feel free to leave the family your condolences via the Tribute Wall provided.

Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
