Gregory E. Miller
July 1st, 1959 - October 3rd, 2015
Gregory E. Miller, Age 56 Born July 1, 1959 Died Oct. 3, 2015 A memorial service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church in Sarasota, FL on Monday October 12, 2015. Viewing: 1pm – 5:15pm; Service: 5:30pm; BBQ Celebration: 6:30pm. Affectionately known by many as Big Greg, went to be with Jesus last week on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, experiencing the transition he lived in joyful anticipation of his entire life. Born in Nappanee, IN, to Ervin and Shirley Miller, later living in Spooner, WI, he then became a resident of Sarasota, FL for over 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Sue Miller; 3 Adult Children, A.J. (Samantha), Jana (Mitch), and Laura Miller; his mother, Shirley Miller, all of Sarasota; and only sibling, his brother, Garry Miller of Traverse City, MI. Greg was first and foremost a follower & lover of Jesus, actively serving in his home church, Bethel Mennonite. To say simply "serving" would be a significant understatement. His entire life was characterized by serving others in Jesus' name. Rarely, does one have the privilege of intimately knowing someone who so entirely and authentically embodies the role of a Servant-hearted Disciple like that of Greg, which was witnessed by not a few, but by thousands in this community alone. It would not be inappropriate to liken him to Barnabas "Son of Encouragement" spoken of in the Book of Acts. He was richly loved by his family and was a wonderful husband and father. He loved working with his hands and outdoors. The family farm was always an experiment in the making, and an obvious joy to him. He was also known for his outdoor and hunting skills. Greg was the owner and operator of Big Greg's BBQ, and Big Greg's Lawn Service, Both of which the children will carry on. Many have expressed desires to help and assist the family . In response, a fund has been established to enable giving. It is a Family Debt & Recovery Fund online through the “gofundme” service. You may help the family and express your love by sharing words and giving at: http://www.gofundme.com/gregmiller The Miller family would like to thank you for your support during this difficult time. Your words, prayers, and acts of kindness have eased this time of transition. Thank you so much for any and all gifts that you have chosen to share.
