Online Obituaries for Frankfort, KY Gregory Scott Simpson of Frankfort, KY, 54 passed away suddenly at his residence in Shelbyville, KY on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Simpson and step-mother Thelma Simpson; his paternal grandparents Charles and Mallie Simpson of Anderson County; his maternal grandparents Delveaux and Flora Goins of Franklin County KY; Greg is survived by his daughter Morgan Brooke Shannon, son-in-law Aaron Shannon, his son Blake Scott Simpson, his grandchild Ellie Caroline Shannon, stepson David Burgan, mother Linda Mills, step-father Jerry Mills, brothers Jimmy Simpson II, David Goldsmith, step-bothers Gregg Griffith and Brett Mills, step-sisters Gina Mills and Susan Goldsmith Melton, nephew Jimmy Simpson III. Greg was also survived by many loving cousins and extended family members of his step-mother Thelma Simpson and step-father Jerry Mills. Greg was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. Greg graduated from Franklin County High School in 1980 and a proud member of the 1980 sweet-sixteen basketball team. Greg was a passionate basketball fan and avid golfer. Greg and his brother Jimmy enjoyed a rich childhood filled with many hours competing together and against each other in both basketball and golf. His greatest joy in life were his two children and granddaughter. His employment included several years at the Department of Transportation and Topy (Frankfort, KY). Greg also worked at Condea Vista in Louisville. Greg was a loving man with a generous heart. He will be dearly missed. Funeral Information Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. with Rev. Todd Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Frankfort Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Louis Luckett, Sam Luckett, Mike Goins, Gregg Griffith, Jimmy Simpson III and Mark Mcpherson. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Donations Link: [email protected]
