Grundy H. Adkisson
October 23rd, 1921 - January 8th, 1996
Grundy H. Adkisson, 74, of Milliken, CO died Monday, January 8, 1996 at his home. He was born October 23, 1981 in Renick, MO to William J. and Cinia (Cowden) Adkisson. On January 31, 1945 he married Faye Trimble in Johnstown, CO. Mr. Adkisson attended Milliken High School, then went to work on his family's farm until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He completed his schooling at the Naval Trade School at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was awarded three Battle Stars for his service in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters and received an honorable discharge in 1945. He was self employed for seven years before going to work for Loveland Ready-Mix and retired from there as a manager after 35 years. Mr. Adkisson was a fromer member of the Fraternal order of Odd Fellows No. 97 in Milliken. Survivors are his wife, Faye of Milliken; two sons, Roger D. Adkisson of Fort Collins, CO and Jim H. Adkisson of Johnstown; a sister, Martha Francis Wright of Fairfield, ID; a brother, Woodrow J. Adkisson of Phillipsburg, KS; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Three brothers, Virgil, Les, and Russell are deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 1996 at Adamson Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Johnstown Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 1985 of Firestone, CO and the American Legion/Veterans of Foreign Wars of Longmont, CO.
