Guillermo Rimando
September 12th, 1913 - March 11th, 2008
Guillermo N. Rimando peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 after a brief illness at The Ridge Convalescent Home in Salinas, CA. Mr. Rimando was 94 years old. Mr. Rimando was born on September 12, 1913 in the town of Nagillian a small province in Ilocos Norte, Phlippines. He later came to the United States at the early age of 17 years old. Later he joined the United States Army in 1942, where he served with the 1st & 2nd Regiment Battalion that helped in General MacArthur's push to overtake Leyte, Philippines from insurging Japanese soldiers and helped surviving soldiers in the famous Bataan March during World War II. He also served two tours in the Korean conflict before retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1963 after 21 years of honorable military service. Mr. Rimando was preceded in death by his first wife Asteria Sainz Rimando. Mr. Rimando is survived by his current wife of 18 years Aimee and nine children, Linda Cordoba, Jimmy Rimando Jr., Lillian Kausin, Edith Munzenberger, Fredy Rimando, Suzanne Rimando, Anthony Rimando, Alex Rimando, Margie Rimando and 59 grandchildren. He mostly enjoyed family gatherings and was a long-time avid fan of both the San Francisco Giants and 49'ers. At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
