Gurdev S. Shergill

Gurdev S. Shergill 73, of Yuba City, CA, passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 28, 2014. He was born June 15, 1940 in Punjab, India. Gurdev lived a full life, starting and running his family business in the U.K. before retiring to Yuba City in 1996. He was very passionate about his faith, community, family and friends, always giving without want. Always taking a leading role developing the Gurudawara in his home village Mahal Khurd, and very active in his faith in U.K. and U.S.A. He was a very big advocate and speaker for human rights. He touched the hearts of everyone that met him. Survivors include his son & daughter-in- law Kuldip Singh Shergill & Prem Lata Shergill of Newcastle, England, Son & daughter-in-law Sarbjit Singh Shergill & Rajvinder Kaur Shergill of Yuba City, CA, son-in-law & daughter Amerjit Singh Rai & Rani Rai of Yuba City, CA, son-in-law & daughter Avtar Singh Saranah & Manjit Kaur Saranah of Brisbane, Australia, son-in-law & daughter Sammy Singh Soomal & Sarabjit Kaur Soomal of Brisband, Australia; Grandchildren: Amandeep, Shrene, Rajan, Raveen, Nicholas, Amraj, Munpreet, T.J., Nanak, Milan, Sirus, Taylah. Services will be conducted Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel with Giani Gurcharan Singh, Bogue Road Sikh Temple, officiating. Final prayers and Cremation will follow at Ullrey Memorial Chapel Crematory. BHOG Service will follow at Bogue Road Sikh Temple, Yuba City. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
