Gustavo Pedro Rivero
October 19th, 1941 - January 14th, 2015
Gustavo Pedro Rivero Sr, 74, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at The Washington Home and Community Hospice in Washington, D.C. following a brief battle with cancer. Gustavo leaves behind a beloved wife of 52 years, Lydia Rivero; his son, Gustavo Rivero and his wife Diane; his daughter Beatrice Rivero and husband Javier; and three granddaughters, Alexis (15), Daniella (9), and Gabriela (6). He was born and raised in Caibarien, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1960. Gustavo worked as a waiter at 1789 Restaurant for most of his adult life. While there he enjoyed meeting many influential political figures and celebrities. He loved sharing stories of those encounters with everyone. Gustavo was an avid sports fan. His favorite sport was baseball and his favorite team was the New York Yankees. Gustavo was also a loyal Washington Redskins fan. He also was an active member of St. Thomas Apostle Parrish. Long known for his positive outlook on life, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone and everyone who came in his path. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at St. Thomas Apostle Parrish.
