Surrounded by her children, Mrs. Gwen Lewin died February 19th at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida. Mrs. Lewin recently moved to Pinellas County from Chicago, IL. Gwen Lewin was born in Terre Haute, Indiana January 25, 1920 and was the daughter of Samuel and Leah Rosenak. She attended Stevens College and Northwestern University before beginning a long career in retail. During the Second World War, Mrs. Lewin served as an officer in the United States Coast Guard. She raised her family in Hammond, IN, where she is a member of Congregation Beth Israel. Most of her career was spent as co-owner of Lewin?s clothing store in East Chicago, Indiana. After her retirement, Gwen moved to Chicago where she enjoyed the cultural life of the city and volunteered at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Mrs. Lewin was preceded in death by her brothers Bernard and Irwin Bud Rosenak and by her husband of forty years, Kenneth Lewin. She is survived by daughter, Susan Rosenbluth of Largo, FL, sons Arnold Lewin of Indianapolis, IN and Alfred Lewin of Gainesville, FL, by seven grandchildren, Gabriel, Jacob, Adam, Micah, Leah, Scott, and Shanna, and by her longtime companion Bernard Holzman of Chicago.
