HARLEN "JOE" HALL A Celebration of the life of Joe Hall will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Brusie Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Knauss of Brookings, Oregon officiating. He was born on February 3, 1929 to Haskell and Mary Hall. Joe passed away on February 9, 2016 in Bakersfield, CA. of natural causes. Joe's son Richard provided excellent and loving care to him during the last year of his life. Born in Wister, Oklahoma, as a child his family moved to Southern CA. Joe entered the Navy just after WWII and his ship was stationed in Japan as part of the occupying force. Joe worked as a USDA Government Meat Inspector and he and his family then moved to Vacaville, CA, Oroville, CA, and then Chico, CA. He was a meat inspector for 20 years. Once Joe retired, he and Virginia moved to Smith River to enjoy fishing for salmon and ocean perch with Virginia frequently out fishing him. They lived there for over 20 years. Joe was married to Virginia Stubblefield for 66 years before her passing in 2014. Joe was very handy at making wood furniture in his spare time. He and Virginia loved the Lord and attended church in Brookings, Oregon on a regular basis. Joe is survived by sons Richard Hall of Bakersfield, CA., and Dennis Hall of Chico, Ca.; 4 grandchildren: Tara of Texas, Tracy of Bakersfield, CA, Rosa of Puerto Rico, Danielle of Paradise, CA; 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 brothers and one sister. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his son Hugh who passed away in May of 2013.
