Harlon Knickerbocker

Harlon Frederick Knickerbocker, 91, passed away on August 30, 2024 in Statesville, NC. Born on August 4, 1933, Harlon dedicated 47 years of his life to Corning Incorporated, marking a distinguished career.
A proud veteran, Harlon served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War era, a commitment he held in high esteem throughout his life. He graduated from Corning Free Academy and continued to enrich his life and those around him with his passions and pursuits.
Harlon was an enthusiastic supporter of the New York Mets and enjoyed attending wrestling matches at Campbell High School. He was an active member of the Waneta Lake Baptist Chapel community, contributing as a pitcher for the chapel's softball team. His love for games was evident in his knack for euchre, which he played with joy.
His hobbies included a keen interest in the world of antiques, where he engaged in collecting, buying, and selling unique pieces, further showcasing his diverse interests and skills.
Harlon is survived by his loving wife, Edna Katherine Knickerbocker; children, Daryl (Donna) and Keith (Kathy); grandchildren, Carissa Harn, Ryan Knickerbocker, Kalan Knickerbocker and Zachary Ballance and his sister, Kathleen Knickerbocker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Wilma Knickerbocker; a son, Harlon Frederick Knickerbocker, Jr. (Lon); siblings, Gerald Knickerbocker, Sherlon, Knickerbocker, Marilyn Knickerbocker, Bonnie Hall, Jean Neff, Valerie Betts, Sandra Smith; and grandson, Anthony Knickerbocker.
A celebration of Harlon's life will be planned by his family at a later date. For those wishing to honor Harlon's memory, the family suggests contributions be made in his name to a charity of one's choice, reflecting his generous spirit.
