Harly M. Harty

Harly M. Harty, of Ione, CA, passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, January 11, 2020. He was born in Bakersfield, CA to Mayreh M. (Hufstedler) and Harly E. Harty. Harly graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1960 with a BS in mechanical engineering and was immediately employed by Aerojet in Sacramento. Years later he became involved in the Artificial Heart development team at Aerojet, which created Nimbus Inc, a small research and development company dedicated to the advancement of artificial hearts and blood pumps. Harly had many interests during his life which included Alfa Romeo cars, Lionel trains and books. He was extremely active in Native Sons of the Golden West and served as the state president in 1992-1993 and continued right up to the end of his life being involved on the local level in Amador County as well as many functions throughout the state. Harly is survived by his wife, Judy Harty; daughters, Susan Harty and Stacy Harty; daughter-in-law Jennifer Rollins; grandson, Tyler Harty-Rollins; brother Terry Harty; nephew Talbot Harty; uncle Seth Hufstedler and cousin Steve Hufstedler.
