Harold Benjamin Dunkelberger Sr., 90, passed away March 30, 2017 in Olympia, Washington. He was born August 7, 1926 to Harold and Luella Dunkelberger in Olympia. Harold graduated from Olympia High School in June 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 20, 1944 to June 22, 1946 as part of the American Area Campaign, stationed out of Astoria, Oregon. After the War, he married Margaret Anne “Peggy” Peterson on May 11, 1946. Harold had a variety of careers in his lifetime, including working as a dairy farmer, logger, mill worker, building contractor, and real estate broker. He was a member of Prosperity Grange, and the Griffin Fire Department for 45 years, serving 30 years as Commissioner. Harold was a loving husband, caring father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was compassionate, patient, wise, strong, able, and fair. He loved sharing his knowledge with others, and was a true believer in Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Dunkelberger; sons, Harold B. Dunkelberger Jr., and Phillip David Dunkelberger; daughters, Mary Margret Voie, and Anne Louise Rotz; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and brother, Mason Dunkelberger. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anita Sanders, Christopher Dunkelberger, Wayne Dunkelberger, Robert Dunkelberger, and Justus Dunkelberger.
