David C. Gross Funeral Homes
Harold Hess
May 31st, 1933 - October 2nd, 2009
Harold Mann Hess finally succumbed to his long-term disabilities and illnesses. He passed away peacefully on October 2, 2009 in Clearwater, Florida. Despite the many hardships he endured for so many years, Hal was almost always upbeat. He quickly made friends with people around him because he had a positive attitude, was interested in people, was a good listener and was very appreciative. Hal, a gentleman and a gentle man, fondly looked back on his successful career as a meteorologist. He was also a writer, an avid reader, a collector of art and antiquities, and a connoisseur of classical music which he thoroughly enjoyed until his last moments. Hal was born on May 31, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is survived by his brother Michael and wife Mary Scott; his brother Peter; and he leaves behind son Richard, his wife Maura and granddaughter Trin; daughter Catherine; son Russell; daughter Robbe and husband Andy and their son Chris; daughter Alisa and husband Phil; daughter Kathy; daughter Karen and husband Robert and their two sons Ryan and Joe. Hal will also be missed by many close friends. A memorial get-together and the scattering of Hal's ashes will take place at a later date, still to be determined.
