Harold Lee Miller, III

October 3rd, 1960 - June 6th, 2023

Harold Lee Miller, III, 62, of Lexington, SC, entered his eternal home with Christ on Tuesday, June 6 after a 10-year battle with colon cancer. Lee was born on October 3rd, 1960, to Ellen and Harold Lee Miller, Jr. in Newark, Ohio, and was reared in Bluefield, West Virginia. After Lee graduated from Bluefield High School, he went on to study Design at Clemson University. Lee developed a passion for design, architecture, and landscape and spent the majority of his life and career bringing beauty and order to the world’s empty or ordinary spaces. Lee married the love of his life, Joanna, in 1988. Lee and Joanna went on to have three children: Trent (age 32, married to Emily), Christi (age 27, married to Jonathan), and Jason (age 24). Lee and Joanna are expecting their first grandchild in September. Lee is survived by his wife and three children (mentioned above), his parents, Ellen and Harold Lee Miller, Jr., and his brother, Greg (married to Ashley). Lee spent his last few weeks surrounded by family and dear friends. Many would say Lee was a crucial part of their faith journey–allowing his testimony to be a source of hope for others. Lee’s family will miss his gentle, loving spirit, his wisdom, and his role as a husband, father, and friend. Lee’s friends and family take comfort in remembering his steady confidence in Christ’s love and promise of an eternal inheritance, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord all the days of his life (Psalm 27:4). A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverbend Community Church, 1015 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC on Sunday, June 11th, at 3:00 in the afternoon. A Reception will follow the Celebration of Life service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Haiti Children’s Project. Their mission of serving the least of these, primarily marginalized women and children, was close to Lee’s heart. You may give at www.haitichildrenproject.org. “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’” –Isaiah 52:7 “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” –Jude 1:24-25

Lee was a humble servant and a great brother in Christ. I always enjoyed our conversations when we attended Riverbend Community Church together. We were both WV guys. He will be missed, but he is home now... Without any sorrow, heartache, or pain!

Harold Lee, Ellen, Joanna and Family, As Harold Lee's first cousin and one who enjoyed correspondence with Lee, my sincere condolences. This is such sad news, it is hard to know what to say except that I am sorry that I am no longer able to travel to the service, etc. I do not correspond via Facebook but I did see the message from Joanna. That is such a nice photo of Lee and it captures the way I remember him from years ago. William Bedwell

I worked with and knew Lee for 3 years working at USC. He was always kind and pleasant to work with and willing to assist me whenever I needed it. He was my ‘TIGERS Buddy’. My prayers and deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I had the privilege and honor of working with Lee. I so enjoyed our discussions and the insights he was able to share with me. To his dear family and friends, I pray that God will hold the pieces of your broken hearts in His hands as you walk through this very difficult time and that God will grant you peace and comfort that surpasses understanding.

Lee was a dear brother whose desire to follow the Lord’s leading made a lasting impact my life. I still remember his teaching a Bible study back in 1983 or 84 that has always stayed with me. Simple wisdom that he shared with all.
