Harold Daniel Price
February 23rd, 1924 - January 24th, 2011
Harold Daniel Price--father of four, grandfather of ten, great grandfather of ten, and loving husband of 33 years--passed away on January 24th, 2011. Harold was born February 23,1924 in Oakley Idaho, where he spent his first five years. He grew up in Idaho Falls until he was drafted into the Army in 1943 at age 19. He spent an eventful 2 years in Europe, including engagements with the enemy in France. After being wounded in battle he was captured, and spent 8 months as a Prisoner of War. In 1946, shortly after his 1945 return to the States, he went on a Mission to Switzerland, serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After spending time at Brigham Young University, Harold moved to Oakland, where he married and had his four children: Karen, Scott, Craig and Keith. In 1960 he was a key player in preventing the Oakland football team from being named the Senors and eventually called the Raiders. In 1977, Harold remarried to Maxine Cordner, who he knew was the love of his life. They lived in Concord until 2003, and he experienced many of life's pleasures at this time. Harold retired in 1991, and he and Maxine repeatedly travelled to Europe, and spent time in the tropics. He served his church on a second mission, with Maxine. He was an avid golfer, and one of his proudest moments came when he ""shot his age""--80 strokes at age 80. He spent his later years in Brentwood (starting in 2003), where he was active in his ward at the Mormon Church. He is preceded in death by his son Craig (1960), and is survived by his children Karen, Scott and Keith, and his wife Maxine. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, January 28th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1101 McClarren Rd. Brentwood. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to Snowline Hospice. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA, the following Monday. Visitation Friday, January 28, 2011 11:00 am-12:00 pm
