Harold "Hal" Volb
October 29th, 1951 - September 14th, 2021
Harold (Hal) Volb, 69, of Yuba City died September 14, 2021, from multiple myeloma. He was born to Karl and Anna Volb on October 22, 1951 in Isernhagen, Germany. The family came to the U.S. in 1958 and lived in New Jersey before moving to Lodi, CA. Hal attended Lodi HS and has a life membership in the California Scholarship Federation. He then attended Delta College, UC Davis, and graduated from USC with a PharmD. He worked as a pharmacist for Longs Drugs where he met the love of his life, Jennifer Angove. They married on April 15, 1984 and had two children, Adam and Andrea. Hal was a pharmacist at Walgreens for 29 years, where he was able to meet and help many people from the community. He was a manager of the Walgreens Pharmacy in Marysville for a few years and later worked at the oldest Walgreens Pharmacy in Yuba City until he retired in 2018. Hal enjoyed weight lifting and spent many hours at the gym. He won First Place and Best Overall at the 1989 Colusa County Fair's First Annual Body-Building Classic. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved the thrill of riding his motorcycles, especially his Suzuki Hayabusa. Hal enjoyed his collection of knives and pens, bowling, watching sci-fi, and most of all spending time with his family. Family members include his wife, Jennifer of Yuba City, CA; son, Adam Volb of Yuba City, CA; daughter, Andrea Angove-Volb of Brooklyn, NY; sister Dory (Don) Ertz of Lodi, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Anna Volb; his stepmother, Betty Volb; nephew, Danny Vargas; and cousins, Adam and Ida Merkle. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 730 D St., Marysville, CA. with a luncheon to follow. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Sutter Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation at myeloma.org. The family gives special thanks to Adventist Health Rideout Cancer Center, UCSF Hematology and Oncology, and Comfort Keepers.
