Harriet N. Finkle
December 27th, 1919 - July 28th, 2015
Harriet N. Finkle, 95, formerly of Coolidge Road, Amsterdam died peacefully on July 28, 2015. Born on December 27, 1919 in Gloversville, New York she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Minnie Nessel and the beloved sister of the late Chester Nessel. She was the wife of the late Harry Finkle who she married on December 28, 1946. Harriet was a graduate of George Washington High School in New York. Together for 55 years Harry and Harriet raised a family and owned and operated Hill & Markes Inc. Harriet was the past President of the Amsterdam Chapter of Hadassah, the Synagogue Sisterhood and a member of Congregation Sons of Israel in Amsterdam. She was a true humanitarian who helped her community and instilled these important values in her family. She also loved the Arts and passed on that love to her children. Harriet loved her family especially her grandchildren.. She brought a kindness, compassion and humor to every person she met. Survivors include her children, Andrea Packer and her husband Neal of Niskayuna NY and Jeffrey Finkle and his wife Melanie of Albany, NY; five grandchildren, Becky Fisher and her husband Anthony, Jeromy Finkle, Sarah Finkle, Rabbi Malka Packer , Jason Packer and his wife Lisa; three great grandchildren, Anna, Maya and Benjamin; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Harriet will be missed by all of her extended family and friends Funeral services will commence on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 1p.m. at Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue, 355 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rabbi Matthew Cutler officiating. Interment will follow in Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Cranesville. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Shiva will be observed on Thursday and Saturday evening beginning at 7p.m. at the home of Neal and Andrea Packer, 20 Covington Court, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
