Harriet Lola Martin
June 1st, 1923 - August 13th, 2024
Harriet Lola Butler was born on June 1, 1923 in a small town in central Minnesota. She went to business school and worked in Minneapolis until joining the World War 2 military effort as part of the Coast Guard Spars. She was stationed in Long Beach, CA as part of the intelligence division.
It was there she met and married a Navy serviceman, Bob Martin. They moved to San Jose, CA where Harriet helped put Bob through college. Bob worked as a high school teacher/counselor in Placerville, Ca and then in Sacramento, CA. Their children (Callie, Rick, and Curt) were born during this time. Harriet stayed home with them until all were in school. Then she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the school district.
Bob and Harriet took early retirements and went to work at Faith Academy High School in the Philippines. After serving 6 years at Faith Academy, they retired again this time to Southern California, they spent 20 years there before moving to Loveland. Bob died in 2007. On August 13, 2024, Harriet joined Jesus and Bob in heaven.
Harriet’s love for Jesus was shown through her hospitality, her service in churches and the community, and her joy and laughter.
Harriet’s family includes her children: Callie Redfield (Bob), Rick Martin (Deb), and Curt Martin (Grace); her grandchildren: Alex Martin (Summer), Greg Martin, Nick Martin (Shannon), Jeremy Redfield (Dawn), Caleb Redfield (Anna), and Micah Redfield (Julia); and 16 great-grandchildren.
