Harry J. Chmielewski
October 20th, 1923 - February 8th, 2011
Harry Chmielewski, 87, North Port, formerly of Venice FL, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. He was born on October 20, 1923 in Toledo, OH to George and Rose (Rambisz) Chmielewski. Harry was a native of Toledo OH, but moved to Venice FL in 1986. For 18 years, he lived in Venice East, and for the last 7 years lived in North Port Villas at Lakeside Plantation. Harry and Mardell were founding members of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Venice. He was a graduate of Macomber High School (Toledo) and worked as a tool and diemaker at Doehler-Jarvis for 45 years. Harry was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy as a mechanic for PT boats in the Philippines. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Mardell Chmielewski; daughter, Beverly and husband Aaron Clagg of North Port FL; three sons, Donald and wife Trish of Tampa FL, Leonard and wife Susan of Columbus OH, and David and wife Linda of Minneapolis MN; eight grandchildren, Jeremiah Chmielewski, Nicholas and Lauren Chmielewski, David Chmielewski, Jeff Clagg, Hillary Basham, Sean Bartels, Michelle Anderson; and six great grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 11th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Road, Venice with Father Vincent Sheehy, officiating. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Harry Chmielewski to the Tidewell Hospice, 1144 Veronica St., Port Charlotte FL 33952
