Harry lived in Shelton and Fife, Washington during his youth. He joined the US Army at age 17, where he served for six years. While in Korea he received a Purple Heart for wounds he received during the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. Following his service in Korea, Harry returned to Washington. He soon met and married his love for life, Virginia. Shortly after, they were blessed with four children.Harrys career path took him is several directions, including Boeing and several other companies. Ultimately, he found his career passion at Edmonds Community College as an educator; where he worked from 1973 until his passing. Edmonds Community College was an institution he loved and those he worked with were truly a part of his family. Work was important to Harry, but his family meant even more; he was amazingly devoted to his children and grandchildren. Along with his, Virginia, he ensured his children and grandchildren had strong support and guidance on every front. His children and grandchildren will never forget the memories of his support and the zest for life that he inspired. A service for Harry will be held at Becks Funeral Home in Edmonds, WA on Saturday, December 11th at 11:00 am. Following the service there will be an interment ceremony for the immediate family. The family welcomes all of Harrys family and friends to an open house at the family home from 2:00 to 5:00 that afternoon. Directions to the family home will be provided at the service. Announcement: In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to make a contribution in honor of Harry to the institution he loved, Edmonds Community College. Donations will be directed to the Oharah Scholarship Endowment to provide assistance to students with academic merit and financial need. All contributions made to the Oharah fund by the end of December are eligible to be matched 4:1, thereby quadrupling the impact of your gift and providing support to students for generations to come.
