Harry "Jake" J. Zimmer, III
July 19th, 1951 - January 9th, 2021
Harry J. Zimmer (Jake), of National Park, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was 69. Legacy Harry attended Gateway Regional High School. He proudly served in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam war where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Following his service time, Harry worked at Mobil Oil for 35 years. He was also a member of the Army Navy Garrison for over 50 years which puts him as the longest continuing member to date. He volunteered countless hours, served as commander and also held additional positions through out his tenure serving the Garrison. Away from work, Harry was an amazing chef always cooking delicious meals for his family. He loved it when his children would ask him to make a special dish to bring to dinner. He would spend all week planning and preparing to bring extra so everyone had leftovers. Many wonderful memories were shared and cherished around the family kitchen table. After dinner Harry couldn’t wait for the card game to start with his sons, daughters, spouses and grand kids. The memories and laughter from these card games were priceless. Family was everything to him. Harry was a Philadelphia sports fan and loved watching the Eagles on Sunday with his family and enjoying a cold beer. Harry will be fondly remembered for his direct, quick witted personality and for being a longtime advocate for Veterans in Gloucester County. Family Harry is the beloved father of Harry (Susan) Zimmer, Jeff (Michelle) Zimmer; Tara Wright & Tammy (Dan) Reynolds; dear brother of Linda Dunn; grandfather of Ryan, Lauren, Aaron, and Ashley. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
