Harvey Grimme, 79, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, with his wife by his side. He was born December 23, 1944, to Howard and Lou Ann Grimme in Yankton, South Dakota.

Growing up around Tyndall, South Dakota, he had many great memories as a farm kid. Harvey later moved to Oakland and Minneapolis. When the opportunity came, he moved to Marsing, Idaho, to work with his Uncle Julio Chumuca.

Harvey married Pat Johnson on May 23, 1974, at the Marsing Island Park. He adopted her two boys, gaining the family he thought he would never have. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

An opportunity came to buy his own auto repair shop, opening Marsing Auto and Towing. He later bought the Marsing Building Center property on Main Street, starting Harvey’s Auto Parts. He offered towing and locksmithing, too.

During his years in Marsing, Harvey was on the City Council, and was a volunteer fireman and EMT. What fulfilled him most was being Owyhee County Coroner for 28 years. He loved helping people and would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it, no matter what hat he had on.

Harvey and Pat later moved to Colorado Springs to live with their son, Kevin, and his wife, Shauna.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat; sons, Rob (Cricket) and Kevin (Shauna); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Pam) and Ray (Patti); and sister, Karen (Mike).

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 24th at 11:00 am at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833

Donations may be made to Marsing Ambulance at P.O. Box 132, Marsing, ID 83634.
