A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Springfield Memorial Gardens for Haskel “Wayne” Malone of Springfield, who died Aug. 14 of age-related causes. He was 78. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service at the Springfield Elks Lodge.He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Clebit, Okla., to Charles and Ivadell Samples Malone.He graduated from Lakeview High School in Oregon and from Long Beach City College in 1962. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Yorktown. He worked as a driver for Greyhound for more than 25 years and retired in the early 1990s.Survivors include four daughters, Cindy Cholewinski of Springfield, Danette Overall of Prineville, Laura Denley of Powell Butte and Karen Aguinaga of Tigard; a son, Steven of Cascade Locks; a sister, Fern Baty of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Remembrances to Elks National Foundation.
