Hatice Husran (Balimtas) McAlister (Jolly) passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019 with her husband by her side. Hatice was born on March 11, 1933 in Kadikoy Istanbul, Turkey, the sixth of eighteen children. Her father was a retired railroad engineer and business man. She worked in his grocery store after school, helped raise her siblings, and was a favorite of her grandparents. After graduating from high school, she and her sister worked in the entertainment field until she met and married Bill McAlister, a sailor stationed in Turkey. They traveled the world together being stationed in Scotland, Maine, Alaska, Japan, Greece and retiring from the Navy in Puerto Rico. After Puerto Rico they moved to California, Maryland, and finally Florida. She LOVED shopping, cooking great Turkish dishes, reading, card games, video poker, slot machines and traveling. She was always adventurous…finding interesting places to live (apartment in Albar Castle in Scotland, small house in Yokohama, etc.). Life with Jolly was never boring. Jolly was predeceased by her father, Ibrahim Balimtas and mother Sabriye. She is survived by her husband William D McAlister, sister Handan Schneider, and several other siblings; daughter Melodi Jean McAlister-Jenkins and son in law Mark of Deltona, Florida, and grandson Mark William Jenkins. A private burial will take place TBD.
