Hayward Stewart “Stew” Robertson passed away peacefully at his care home in Antioch, California on July 18, 2024.

Stew was born to Von H. Robertson and C. Vilda (Anderson) Robertson on April 24, 1934 in Logan, Utah. He graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. During his high school years, he participated in the a cappella choir and was editor of the school newspaper. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, graduating with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He served in the Air Force Reserve and was called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He made his career in management engineering, primarily in hospitals.

Stew was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Australia. In 1962, he married Myrna Nelson in the Salt Lake City Latter-day Saint Temple. They raised their family in Pleasant Hill, California, and later in Lodi, California. Stew was dedicated to his church work and served diligently in a wide variety of callings. He also enjoyed working in the Family History Center in Lodi.

He was a valuable source of guidance to family and friends and would always make time to sit down with someone and talk through a problem. He was known to give “five dollar answers to fifty-cent questions,” and he was a thorough consumer of local newspapers and NPR. He shared his thoughts and his candy drawer generously with anyone who showed interest. Other hobbies included residential architecture, woodworking, and jazz and classical music.

Stew is survived by his loving children Rebecca Cranmer (Thomas) of Antioch, California, Jennifer Robertson of Federal Way, Washington, Douglas Robertson (Serena) of North Bend, Washington, and Randall Robertson (Stephanie) of Vacaville, California; and by nine beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Julian Robertson (Barbara) of Orange, California, and David Robertson (Mary Lynn) of Holladay, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna, his parents, Von and Vilda, his brother, Anderson Robertson (Lisa), and his grandson, Ian Robertson.

The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 26th at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3015 Rio Grande Dr in Antioch, California, with visitation beginning at 10am. The graveside service will be Monday, July 29th at 11:00am at the Weston City Cemetery in Weston, Idaho.
