My Life Story Helen Cairns Bryce was born April 30, 1914 at the family home one mile west of Meridian and passed away January 21, 2014 at a local care center. She was the first-born of three children and the only daughter of Charles A. and Susie Monlux Cairns. She was proud of her Scottish ancestry. Helen attended a country school, Victory, and graduated from the Meridian High School in 1930, the Lewiston Normal School in 1932 and the College of Idaho in 1962 with a degree in Education. On October 7, 1937, she and J. Frank Bryce were married in Meridian. The lived on and developed a productive Grade A dairy farm over a 30 year period on West Chinden at Black Cat Road before retiring and moving into Meridian in 1967. Helen taught 37 years in the Meridian schools enjoying each and every day as a first grade teacher. She has kept in touch with many of her pupils and has enjoyed hearing of their lives as adults. After retirement, she and Frank did extensive traveling all over the United States by car, plane and RV to visit their families and many national landmarks. After Frank’s death in 1984, Helen devoted her time to volunteering at St. Alphonsus, St. Luke’s, Red Cross, Meridian Senior Center and in other ways. She continued traveling for family visitations, on cruises, on tours and with the RV travel club was enjoyable for her. She has been in all 50 states and on 5 continents. Helen always enjoyed the beauty of people, nature, surroundings and her home. For many years she has patriotically and proudly flown the United States flag over her home. She especially enjoyed calligraphy and used this gift in making many artistic creations which she donated to bazaars or gave away as gifts. Helen was a lifetime member of the Meridian United Methodist Church, a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority, Locust Grove Grange and State and National Granges, St. Luke’s Auxiliary, a life member of St. Alphonsus Auxiliary and a former member of Treasure Valley Good Sam’s Travel Club. We Entrusted Helen Bryce's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
