H. Virginia "Ginger" Chacon
June 9th, 1936 - March 27th, 2024
Helen Virginia “Ginger” “Honey” (Salazar) Chacon returned home, to the arms of the Lord, on March 27, 2024. Ginger was born in Canfield, Colorado on June 9, 1936 to Isabel Nunez-Salazar and Maclovio Salazar. At the age of ten, Ginger was sent to live with her aunt and uncle Felicia (“Faye”) Nunez Mora and Ramon Vargas Mora who raised her as their own. Ginger attended primary school in Ione and graduated from Ft. Lupton High School in 1954.
In 1957, Ginger married Richard B. Chacon, of Gilcrest, and the two had five children: Roberta Chacon (Mike) Caciari, Dick (Lori) Chacon, Rosalind (Larry) Ewing, René (Daniel) Aafedt, and Ronald (Tiffany) Chacon.
Ginger graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1972 and embarked upon her lifelong dream of being an educator at a daycare center in Fort Lupton. She eventually made her way to Weld County RE-1 school district where she found her professional home teaching for an astounding 25 years.
Ginger earned a reputation as an exceptional cook, often hosting weekly and biweekly meals for her children and their families and eventually for her grandchildren and their friends. She enjoyed reading, Rockies games, shopping, dancing, traveling, tea parties, spending time with her sister(s) and close friends, and praying the Rosary. Undoubtedly, one of her favorite pastimes was attending her children & grandchildren’s extracurricular events. Ginger was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Ginger is survived by her children; siblings, Julie Trujillo, Art (Priscilla) Salazar, Anthony Salazar, Joe Mora, Patrick (Vicki) Mora, Annie Negrete, Lora (David) Flores, and Margaret Marquez; grandchildren, Larry Ewing Jr., Amanda Ewing, Elizabeth Chacon, Brent Chacon, Jordan Chacon, Geoffrey Chacon, Cori Aafedt, and Calab Caciari; great grandchildren; Keegan Ewing, Zaylee Rodriquez, Remi Chacon, Kapri Chacon, and Xóchitl Chacon along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
She was preceded in eternal life by her husband, Richard Chacon; grandson, Logan Chacon; her parents and guardians, brothers, John Salazar and Ray Mora, and sisters, Lupe Castro, Mary (Pinkie) Samora, Irene Sena, Mary Chacon and Mary Ellen Montoya.
