Helen Dora Daniels March 2, 1924 - December 28, 2017 Helen Dora Daniels passed away peacefully at her home in Rockledge, Florida surrounded by family on December 28, 2017. She was born Helen Dora Granger on March 2, 1924 in Whitefield New Hampshire to Laura and Frank Granger. When her father got a job at Fairbanks Scales the family moved to St. Johnsbury, VT. In high school at St. Johnsbury Academy she met Robert E. “Danny” Daniels who she later married. Danny joined and made a career in the United States Navy and became an electrician with the rank Chief Petty Officer. They were stationed in New Orleans, Booth Bay Harbor Maine, South Carolina and Key West where Danny served until retirement. While Danny served in Key West Helen raised their six children Phynoy, Rob, Jeff, Sandy and the twins Tim and Tom in a small, three bedroom, one bathroom home in Fort Lauderdale. They remained in Fort Lauderdale after Danny’s retirement from the Navy. On February 15, 1988 Danny passed away, and Helen became the matriarch of her family. Her children grew up and moved first from the house and then from Fort Lauderdale. She lost her son Tim to a brain tumor on January 9, 1995. Helen followed her son Tom to Port St John, Florida, and she and Tom eventually moved to Rockledge, Florida in 2000. In the later years she often spent the winter months in Florida and the summer months in Connecticut with her sister stopping in between to spend time with Sandy, her husband Bob and their sons. She became a member of the Moose Club in Vicksburg, Mississippi where Sandy and Bob live. She loved crossword puzzles, cribbage, bingo, fishing and shopping. A voracious reader she would visit used bookstores to trade in what she had read and buy new novels. She is survived by one sister, Beverly Mosher, 5 children, seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Atlantic Mortuary, 117 Barton Avenue in Rockledge. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Ben Harris of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens North in Pompano Beach at 2:00 PM Wednesday.
