September 9th, 1926 - April 15th, 2011
"South Hadley, Helen P. (Quinlan) Gagnon, 84, of High St., died peacefully on Thursday, April 15 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in S. Hadley, September 9, 1926, she was the daughter of William and Josephine (Frodyma) Quinlan and was a lifelong resident. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and retired from Union Engineering. Her hobbies included bingo, playing pitch and traveling to the casino with her friends. Besides her parents, her husband Normand preceded her in death in 1977, as well as a son, Daniel in 1980. She will be deeply missed by her 9 children, Gerald Gagnon, Patricia Grochowalski (Frank), Betty Laprade, Maryanne Fesko (David), and Connie Desjardins, all of S. Hadley, as well as Suzanne Long (Jon) of Feeding Hills, Kenneth Gagnon (Penny) of Chicopee, Dorothy Scott (Brien) of Granby, and Christine Vought (David) of Sayre, PA. Helen also leaves her siblings Edward Quinlan of Leydon, Michael Quinlan of Granby, Esther Legare of S. Hadley, Peggy Russell of Northampton and Katherine Quinlan of Holyoke. Additionally she leaves 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Friends invited to pay respects on Sunday, April 17 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte 116). Services will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made to Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, 01040. "
