Helen D. McKay

Helen D. McKay, 89, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Garden Square of Greeley. She was born July 21, 1921 on the family farm, "The Lost Pocket Ranch”, east of Pierce to Alex and Hazel (Montgomery) Simpson. She later met and married William E. McKay, on November 25, 1939, and they moved to the Galeton area. She spent her younger years as a cook at the Galeton Schools and enjoyed cooking for her family as well. Her kitchen was always open if you needed a hot cup of coffee and a homemade pastry. She also enjoyed time spent working in her yard and played an important role in the McKay Farms operation for over 50 years. One of her true joys in life was the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, William M. and Sharon McKay of Eaton, CO; her granddaughter, Bilinda McKay-Johnson and her husband, Ted of Parker, CO; two great-grandsons, Wade Johnson of Eaton and Weston Johnson of Parker. Private memorial services and internment at the Eaton Cemetery will be held at a later date.
