Helen Rae Perez

Helen Rae Perez, beloved sister, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Fairfield, Montana on April 30, 1946, Helen led a life of full of adventure and service to others.

Helen grew up helping her beloved father harvest the family farm in Montana. She believed in following her dreams which included living near the ocean and learning to scuba dive which brought her much joy. When her daughters graduated from college, she followed her lifelong dream of opening a Bed and Breakfast near Traverse City which she ran for many years. It was while she had the B&B that Helen began traveling the world volunteering in a wide variety of organizations and making friendships that lasted a lifetime.

She moved to Colorado Springs to be near her family and her beloved grandchildren that knew her as Nana. She loved attending concerts, recitals, soccer games and watching her grandchildren grow up. She also continued her love of volunteering as a volunteer at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

She is survived by her best friend and sister Ruth Stelling, her two daughters Sarah (Nathan) Wiehe and Angie (John) Webster and her four grandchildren, William, Abby, Mara, and Max. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Gladys Hanson.

Helen’s kindness, sense of adventure and love of all will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
