HELEN EMILIE SCHWARTZ Helen Emilie Schwartz passed away on July 8, 2014. She was born on July 12, 1921 in Orland, CA to parents Charles and Emilie Lovin. Helen and her family moved to Chico when she was 8 years old. She attended Chico schools, graduating from Chico Senior High School. She attended one year at Chico State Normal School. Helen married Clement Charles Schwartz on September 6, 1942. On July 6, 1943, her daughter Sandra was born. Helen worked for Bank of America and John Deere. She was a homemaker while her daughter was growing up, and then returned to work as a secretary for Suter Dental Manufacturing. Helen served as a Campfire Girls Leader. She belonged to the Chico Jr. Women's Club, the Junior Art Center, Annie's Star Quilt Guild (charter member), and Bidwell Designers (charter member). She was a member and president of Chico Horticultural Society. Helen loved gardening, flower arranging, painting, sketching, quilting, and reading. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Clem Schwartz, her parents Charles and Emilie Lovin, her brothers Charles and Art Lovin, her sister Alice Knapp, and her niece LaVone Varendorff. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Adams of Chico; grandchildren - Rick and Elie Hanson of Chico, Laura Adams-Ray of Chico, and Mike Adams of Oakland; and great-grandchildren - Kayla Hanson, Nick Hanson, Hannah Ray, Abigail Ray, and Landon King, all of Chico. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. We wish to thank everyone at Feather River Hospital Hospice. All our love and thanks go to the angels at Prestige Assisted Living in Chico for years and years of loving care. Helen's funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Brusie Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in care of Brusie Funeral Home.
