Helen A. Senecal 90, passed away Saturday evening at the Siegenthaler Hospice Center. Born in Amsterdam on June 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ursula Zasas Baltrunas and was educated locally. She lived in Amsterdam most of her life, moving to Rome, NY several years ago to be closer to her son and his family. Helen worked as the secretary to the late Mayor John P. Gomulka and later Mayor Mario Villa. She then continued working at City Hall as a billing clerk for a number of years until her retirement. She was an active communicant of the former St. Casimir's R.C. church serving on the parish committee and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Living Rosary Society, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Council 100 Knights of Lithuania. Helen also found time to volunteer at the Amen Soup Kitchen. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Frances Bobines. She leaves her children; son Paul and his wife Pamela Senecal of Rome, NY; daughter Ursula and her husband Dr. Jonathan Pendleton of Plainville, CT; grandchildren Dr. Courtney Pendleton, Lindsey Pendleton, Stephanie Senecal and Scott Senecal. At Helen's request, services will be private at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Helen's dear friend Deacon Michael Ryba will officiate. Interment is in the family plot at St. Casimir's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Amen Soup Kitchen, 24 Pine Street, Amsterdam or the Siegenthaler Hospice Center, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
