Helen Hudson "T" Tallent, 89, of Lake Wylie, SC died on August 2, 2017 at Hospice of Charlotte, Southminster. A native of Charlotte she was born on November 6, 1927 the daughter of the late John Baxter and Daisy Moore Tallent. "T" grew up in the Elizabeth Community of Charlotte and graduated from Central High School. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education, Health and PE in 1948 and a Masters in Education in 1965 from Appalachian State University. Her teaching career spanned thirty years first at Harding High School and then at Smith Jr. High. She enjoyed staying in touch with former students attending class reunions, weddings and keeping up with their families. Following her retirement "T" resided at her beloved Lake Wylie home enjoying all aspects of life on the lake. She particularly enjoyed her church family at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, Lake Wylie. For most of her years she would be seen on Saturday mornings mowing and grooming the church lawn. Most Mondays were spent in the church finance office. Sisters; Mary Tallent Cochrane, Sarah Tallent Niven and brother; John Baxter Tallent, Jr. preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by long time family friend Smithie Gibson of Lake Wylie, SC. Aunt "T" was the delightful and fun aunt that everyone wished to have in their lives. Her nieces and nephews enjoyed their annual Christmas party with Aunt "T" full of surprises and the annual "school picture". She is survived by nieces and nephews; Camille Tallent Banks, Susan Cochrane Blount, Eugene W. Cochrane, Jr., Julia Tallent Hunsuck, Charles Donovan Niven, Malcolm Hudson Niven, John B. Tallent, III, Ellen Tallent Warters and Anne Cochrane Yarbrough as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Jan and Bert Harrell and Steve Scoggins for their many years of faithful friendship and support to her. A private family burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte. A memorial service will be held at 3:30, Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, Lake Wylie, SC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Good Samaritan UMC, PO Box 5082, Lake Wylie, SC 29710 or to the charity of one's choice.
