Helena Wirth died peacefully at home Sunday, July 30, 2017. A native of Far Rockaway, NY, she never lost her northern accent despite living for over 50 years in the south. After living in Greensboro for many years, she moved to Charlotte last year to live with her son. She was retired from the Fellowship Hall in Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frederick and parents Michael and Mary. She is survived by her sister Shirley Kennedy and son Michael. A funeral mass will be held for Helena and her late husband Frederick on Monday August 7 at 11 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church (8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy in Charlotte). Helena and Frederick will be interred at Forest Lawn East Cemetery (3700 Forest Lawn Dr in Matthews). Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org), The Marianist Mission (www.marianist.com), or Carolinas Palliative Care & Hospice Network of Union County (700 W Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110).
