Helga Maria Natterer

Helga Maria Natterer, 84, of Tumwater, Washington, went to the Lord on June 21, 2021, at Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Washington, due to heart failure. She was born on February 8, 1937, in Troppau, Czech Republic. After World War II, her family became refugees and eventually settled in West Germany, where she attended grade school and high school. In November 1960, Helga married her former grade school classmate, John Natterer. He was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in Germany. As a military spouse, she was stationed with her husband at several U.S. air bases over a span of 20+ years. During this time, she raised four children. In 1984, the family retired to Montesano, Washington, and moved to Tumwater in 1991. Helga was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid gardener and worked for several retail outlets. Helga was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St. Michael Parish in Olympia for almost 30 years. She was devoted to several charitable causes and a member of the Legion of Mary. Helga is survived by John, her husband of over 60 years; two daughters, Margarete and Linda; two sons, John and Joe; and four grandchildren, Sean, Scott, Tyler, and Heather. She also has a surviving sister, Gerda, in Germany. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021,12 noon at St. Michael Church in Olympia, followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tumwater.
