Henry Junior Gleim was born to parents Henry Gleim Jr. and Lea (Gleim) Allee on September 11, 1938. He was the second oldest of eight siblings. His father passed away when Henry was very young, and his mother eventually remarried.
In 1956 he enlisted with the United States Marines Corps. He was stationed in Hawaii where he received his final rank as Lance Corporal. As a former active-duty Marine, he was a rifle and rocket launcher specialist in the ‘L’ Company 2nd Battalion 2nd Infantry until 1959.
At a Dutch Hop in August of 1960, he caught the eye of an alluring beauty name Elaine. His charismatic personality and ability to toss her around on the dance floor was evident enough they were meant for one another. Ten blissful months later on June 9, 1961, they married and had a lifetime of memories only any of us could dream of having. In addition to raising a wonderful family, he worked at Safeway and retired after 25 years. He had this grin that showcased how ornery he was, and everyone adored him. He enjoyed spending time with family, going hunting, fishing, and camping. Being out on the boat or at the lake and playing horseshoes. And you could catch him trying to pull one over on you while playing cards or table games. He loved working and playing outside. Really, the list would be shorter if we said things he didn't enjoy - like the Denver Broncos.
Henry passed away at the age 85 at his home in Evans, CO surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beautiful wife of almost 63 years, Elaine and their three devoted children. His eldest daughter Sherri Hancock and her husband
David (Deceased) and their children Kristy and Joseph; their youngest daughter Gloria Gleim and her children: Finessa and Josh, Felicia, Nicole and Ryan; their son Henry Gleim and his wife Julie and their son Brian; and nine amazing great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters:
Margaret (Bill) Marshall, Betty (Fritz) Hense, Beverly (Paul) Santriano and Clara (Norman) Lee. He will also be missed by his many, many additional family members - related and adopted and a lifetime of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Albert Allee, Charles Allee Jr. and his sister Ruth (Casey)Villa.
Henry's final resting place will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Information about his Celebration of Life will be shared on social media, details to follow soon.
