Petry III, Henry William "Pete" 85, of Dunnellon, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at Hospice of Citrus County. He was born in New York, NY to Henry and Helen (Whelan) Petry. He came here in 1959 from NY. Pete retired from the St. Petersburg Police department in 1980 and then went on to be an investigator for the Pinellas Public Defender's office for 12 years. Pete had many hobbies that included painting, whittling, gardening, orchid growing, organ music and fishing. Pete is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Jean Petry. He is survived by his children, Joan (Marty) Hoffman, Cathy (Michael) Wilson, Henry (Nancy) Petry IV; sister, Rita (George) Mendonsa; sister in law, Cathryn DeBlasi; brother in law, Donald (Peggy) Phillips; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A gathering will be held from 2pm until service time at 3pm on Saturday, Oct. 12th at Anderson McQueen, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Citrus County of the Nature Coast, P. O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
