Henry Arnold Semmern
June 6th, 1927 - December 30th, 2015
Henry A. Semmern, Jr. passed away at home on December 30, 2015, at the age of 88. Henry “Hank” was born in Tacoma to Henry (Sr.) and Elsa Semmern on June 6, 1927. He was a 1945 graduate of Stadium High School, and attended the College of Puget Sound. Hank played baseball in his younger years and was a member and former president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission. An avid golfer and sports fan, he was a member of Fircrest Golf Club. Hank spent his career in the automobile business as co-owner with his father of Semmern Motors in Tacoma, and later worked for Osborne-McCann Cadillac. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Carol Hamilton, and survived by his brother, Don Semmern (Richland). Hank was a loving brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 17, at 2 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2553 Tacoma Ave S, Tacoma, WA 98402. A reception will follow the service at Fircrest Golf Club, 1500 Regents Blvd, Fircrest, WA 98466. Remembrances may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, PO Box 8328, Tacoma, WA 98419.
